Lifeline represents a kind of self-portrait in sound and space, tracing back through my work certain elements I've re-visited in exploring found spaces and creating new ones through sonic interventions: radios, sound waves, vibrating structures. In the relatively tight confines of CAN's Studio space, I've attempted to delineate each of the three rooms (entrance, main room, hallway) with changing sound structures: in the entrance a cricket circuit vibrates a metal pan and sound waves amplified through piezo elements resonate a large steel bowl and aluminum light shade. In the adjacent hallway two small transistor radios broadcast a stream of static. And in the main room two bass transducers intermittently vibrate the floor, set against a constant sine tone amplified through twenty-one speakers. Through these various vibrating, resonating and amplified objects I create three distinct sound spaces, constantly changing and physically tangible.
